BlackRock digital-asset AUM jumps 63% to $79.6 billion, still 23% below year-ago level

At a glance

  1. Even after the rebound, BlackRock's digital-asset assets sit 23% below the nearly $104 billion it managed a year earlier.
  2. Over the past 12 months, BlackRock's digital-asset funds attracted $6.3 billion in net new money while declines in the market value of those assets erased $30.6 billion.
  3. BlackRock operates the iShares Bitcoin Trust, known as IBIT, but the earnings release did not break out separate asset or flow figures for the bitcoin fund, so the quarter's economics are visible only at the aggregate digital-asset line.

BlackRock reported $79.6 billion in digital-asset assets under management at the end of September, up 63% from $48.8 billion at the end of June, according to its third-quarter earnings report released Wednesday.
