Bull signed a memorandum of understanding to join the České Radiokomunikace-led Czech AI Gigafactory initiative, the consortium bidding to build an AI facility in Czechia under the EU-wide European AI Gigafactories program, Data Center Dynamics reported on Oct. 29.
The agreement will engage more than 200 of Bull's AI engineers in Czechia on the gigafactory bid, according to DCD. It also brings supply-chain manufacturing capability that could, in collaboration with Foxconn, enable server production in Czechia and France. Bull was Atos's AI, quantum and high-performance computing division before it was renamed, spun out and nationalized by the French government, and operates in 32 countries.
Allocators weighing the project would be backing a lead sponsor carrying 70% of capex, with the balance split between the Czech government and the European Commission and an EU approval still ahead. If approved, the CZK 100 billion ($4.5 billion) data center would draw CZK 70 billion ($3.1 billion) from CRA. The Czech government and the European Commission would provide CZK 15 billion ($684 million) each, according to Radio Prague International figures cited by DCD.
"The Memorandum of Understanding with Bull opens up opportunities for cooperation in both hardware and software, the two key components of an AI Gigafactory," CRA chief executive Miloš Mastník said in a statement. CRA, which leads the consortium, runs data centers in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Zlín, Lužice and Pardubice. The Czech AI Gigafactory initiative was announced in April 2025.
