Choreo hired Gabriel Rodriguez as chief technology officer, InvestmentNews reported. He was until now LPL Financial's senior vice president of technology and oversaw ClientWorks, the broker-dealer's advisor workstation. Rodriguez will report to CEO Jason Van de Loo, sit on the executive leadership team and work from Choreo's Charlotte, N.C. office.

Rodriguez will own advisor technology, platform integration and artificial intelligence at Choreo, the Chicago-based RIA. Choreo said the role is to build a connected platform so advisor teams deliver coordinated tax and wealth advice consistently as the firm grows, including using AI to expand advisor capacity, upgrading planning, reporting and client-engagement tools, and training teams on them.

Rodriguez has more than 20 years in the industry. Before LPL he spent six years at Vanguard running technology architecture and engineering for its U.S. intermediary business, and earlier led investment research systems at Wellington Management and developed investment systems at Bain Capital.

Choreo's regulatory assets were $19.1 billion as of Oct. 11, with 232 employees and 40 registered representatives, according to PWD records.

In August, PWD reported that LPL recruited Wells Fargo's technology chief, Jonathan Lewis, as its own CTO. Choreo's hire moves a platform executive in the opposite direction.
