The U.S. expansion follows Nomura's December 2025 acquisition of Macquarie Asset Management's U.S. public investments business. Across the U.S. market, active ETFs took 39% of total U.S.-listed ETF net inflows year-to-date through September but represented 13% of assets, according to ETF Trends.

For advisors, the plan means seven more Nomura active strategies by March 2027 and an actively managed Japan equity ETF expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Existing funds include EMEQ, a 30-to-50-stock fund launched two years ago with $600 million in assets. FRWD, a technology fund that began as a separate account, manages nearly $300 million, with top holdings including Advanced Micro Devices, Nvidia, Seagate Technologies and Taiwan Semiconductor, according to ETF Trends.

EMEQ returned 91% in the 12 months ended September 2026, versus 29% for the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, according to ETF Trends. FRWD gained 44% in the same period, versus 31% for the MSCI World Information Technology Index.

In early October 2026, Nomura launched the Nomura High Yield Total Return ETF (HFIX). The fund charges 0.45% and brings the 35-year institutional composite of Nomura Corporate Research and Asset Management to retail investors. The unit manages $40 billion in high-yield assets, according to ETF Trends.

Nomura plans to invest heavily in sales and distribution in 2027, according to ETF Trends.
