Pilot Fiber agreed to buy Boldyn's New York-New Jersey metro fiber business on undisclosed terms. It raised more than $330 million in new financing led by infrastructure investment manager Fengate Asset Management.

The deal is Pilot's second acquisition, following its August purchase of Extenet's enterprise fiber business, which added more than 20 data center connections and a New Jersey footprint. Pilot said it expects both transactions — the acquisition and the financing — to close in the second quarter of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Pilot is buying approximately 100 enterprise, carrier and institutional customers and more than 860 route miles through New Jersey commercial corridors.

The assets include a New York City network used for data center connectivity, smart city infrastructure and enterprise services, and a New Jersey network serving commercial and carrier customers statewide. They add an on-net route into Brooklyn over a dedicated East River crossing, reach into the Bronx, Staten Island and Queens, fiber to the Nassau County border, and monopole infrastructure supporting low-latency connections between major financial exchanges.

Once the deal closes, Pilot's footprint would hold more than 1,600 route miles of fiber and connect more than 1,200 buildings and 50 data centers. Pilot plans to sell its full product line across the combined network: Dedicated Internet Access, Ethernet Transport, Dark Fiber, Wavelength and IP Transit.

Boldyn is already a Pilot customer and will keep using the combined networks for its wireless business in the region.
