At a glance

  1. Bob Bukowski joins as a managing director and principal and will establish the firm's Milwaukee office.
  2. The addition brings Robertson Stephens to 28 advisory teams across 26 offices, up from 27 teams across 25 offices.
  3. Per PWD's records, Robertson Stephens had $8.8 billion in regulatory assets under management as of Oct. 17.

Robertson Stephens said on Oct. 20 that it had combined with Alpha Investment Consulting Group, a Milwaukee-based institutional consultant, taking the firm past $10 billion in client assets. Bob Bukowski joins as a managing director and principal and will establish the firm's Milwaukee office.

The addition brings Robertson Stephens to 28 advisory teams across 26 offices, up from 27 teams across 25 offices. Bukowski's six-person group includes Patrick Pierce, Tony Jones, Dan Strasser, Julia Ramer and Bailey Jordan.

Per PWD's records, Robertson Stephens had $8.8 billion in regulatory assets under management as of Oct. 17. The $10 billion release figure is client assets, a broader measure, so the two numbers are not directly comparable.

Raj Bhattacharyya, the chief executive, said many of the firm's high-net-worth clients serve on boards and investment committees, and the Alpha team adds expertise to serve those organizations directly while building a presence in the Upper Midwest. The release names client categories including foundations, endowments, religious organizations, nonprofits and corporations.

The firm also said the addition extends its capabilities beyond traditional wealth management, alongside wealth planning, investment management, family office services, retirement plan consulting and alternatives.

Long Arc Capital, the owner Robertson Stephens shares with CircleBlack, named Robertson Stephens COO Vikram Chugh as CircleBlack's chief executive, as this publication reported today. The two announcements landed on the same day.

Bukowski described the fit as cultural, citing in the release "a shared commitment to independent advice, fiduciary excellence and client service that made Robertson Stephens a natural fit."
