SEC proposes performance fees for regulated fund advisers

The proposal also seeks comment on a FINRA exam as an accredited-investor route, and fund selectors can comment before any qualification standard changes.

The SEC this week proposed allowing performance fees for regulated fund advisers, a change the agency says is aimed at widening retail access to private-market strategies.

The proposal also seeks comment on a FINRA exam as an accredited-investor route.

The SEC is accepting comment on both the performance-fee change and the exam route, so fund selectors can submit comments before any client qualification standard changes.

The agency set a Nov. 19 virtual compliance seminar for advisers and funds; no advance registration is required, and the webcast link will be posted on SEC.gov the morning of Nov. 19.
