Takenaka's prior US deals

One source described Takenaka, led by Toichi Takenaka, as a collector of unique trophy properties in the U.S., Commercial Observer reported. The firm bought the Grand Hyatt Kauai in Hawaii in the 1990s, owns the Hyatt Andaz Fifth Avenue in New York, formed a joint venture with Kennedy Wilson in 2016 to buy the office tower at 400 California Street in San Francisco, and in 2017 bought Seattle's Tilt 49 office building, fully leased to Amazon. Newmark's Marcella Fasulo, Adam Spies, Willis Robbins, Adam Doneger and Josh King negotiated the sale.

Rockwood and Midtown Equities listed the building around this time last year, The Real Deal reported. Rockwood integrated its operations into Harrison Street Asset Management in that same month. The seller entity on this contract is Rockwood, sources said.
