Truist names Dunn and Cram interim wealth co-heads

Sameer moves to consumer banking; Truist's RIA manages $77 billion.

At a glance

  1. Dunn and Cram will share the top of the wealth division on an interim basis, while Shimna Sameer becomes chief consumer banking officer.
  2. For advisors inside the wealth unit, the immediate change is who sits above them: brokerage now shares the top of the wealth division with private banking, and both seats carry an interim label.
  3. Truist's RIA reported about $77 billion in total assets under management as of December 2025, according to a filing.

Truist Financial appointed Jeff Dunn and Bryan Cram interim co-heads of Truist Wealth, succeeding Brian Dowhower, who will step down later this year.

Dunn and Cram will share the top of the wealth division on an interim basis, while Shimna Sameer becomes chief consumer banking officer. Sameer joined in July from Bank of America Private Bank, where she was head of products, solutions and platforms, to serve as head of wealth. Dunn runs Truist Private Banking, specialty wealth and institutional; Cram runs Truist Wealth Brokerage. Both report to Kristin Lesher, chief wholesale banking officer.

For advisors inside the wealth unit, the immediate change is who sits above them: brokerage now shares the top of the wealth division with private banking, and both seats carry an interim label. No permanent wealth head has been named.

Truist's RIA reported about $77 billion in total assets under management as of December 2025, according to a filing. That figure covers the RIA, not the whole wealth division.

The wealth change follows a top-of-the-bank succession. In September, Truist installed Michael Lyons, former Fiserv CEO, as president and CEO; Bill Rogers became executive chair.

Truist teams landing elsewhere

Private Wealth Daily reported this month that Captrust added a $3 billion Truist team. The publication also reported that Rockefeller Global Family Office added a seven-person, $1.2 billion Truist team in Naples. Both give recruits a comparison point on what books inside the channel are worth to acquirers.

Dowhower announced the transition in a LinkedIn post, without giving a departure date beyond the end of the year. Truist has not given a timetable for filling the co-head roles.
