VanEck launched the Wealth Builder ETF (NYSE: WBMO), an actively managed fund holding global stocks, bonds, real assets and a bitcoin sleeve, at a 0.26% net expense ratio after a fee waiver.
The bitcoin sleeve is indirect: WBMO owns no bitcoin, and a wholly owned Cayman Islands subsidiary gains digital-asset exposure through exchange-traded products. Bitcoin Magazine reported the Oct. 27 launch. That subsidiary is generally capped at 25% of total assets at each quarter-end, a limit covering several asset categories.
Advisors can add bitcoin exposure without a wallet, seed phrase or exchange account, but clients cannot direct the position. The fees stack: the 0.33% gross expense ratio drops to 0.26% after a 0.07% waiver, and the underlying bitcoin products charge their own fees. VanEck warned that digital asset ETPs can be extremely volatile and that some are not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940.
WBMO packages VanEck's Wealth Builder model portfolios, which advisors have used through third-party platforms, into a single ETF that can be bought in a brokerage account. VanEck selects the holdings, sets the weights and rebalances the portfolio. The size of the bitcoin sleeve within that 25% cap is a manager decision. The prospectus sets no specific bitcoin target.
