At a glance

  1. The capital comes from the family's 2023 sale of Viessmann Climate Solutions to Carrier Global for about €12 billion.
  2. For family offices, the structure carries the useful detail: a minority position that began at 5% reaches just under 6.7% through a capital increase, and an expected supervisory board seat comes with it.
  3. Duquesne Family Office, Stanley Druckenmiller's single-family office, was among participants in Flapping Airplanes' $1 billion Series A, co-led by Index and Lux and reportedly at a $6 billion valuation.

Viessmann Generations Group, the holding company for the German family behind the Viessmann heating business, is acquiring the last available equity stake in FC Bayern München AG, FO Pro reported. The stake was originally 5% and will come to just under 6.7% because the transaction runs through a capital increase. Neither side disclosed the price; Manager Magazin reported about €250 million (roughly $281 million) is changing hands, a figure that would put the club's value at just under €4 billion.

The capital comes from the family's 2023 sale of Viessmann Climate Solutions to Carrier Global for about €12 billion. Max Viessmann, chief executive of Viessmann Generations Group, is expected to join the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG, and the two have worked together closely since 2018.

For family offices, the structure carries the useful detail: a minority position that began at 5% reaches just under 6.7% through a capital increase, and an expected supervisory board seat comes with it. That pairing of a non-controlling stake with a board role is the term to test against other single-asset holdings of this kind.

Duquesne Family Office, Stanley Druckenmiller's single-family office, was among participants in Flapping Airplanes' $1 billion Series A, co-led by Index and Lux and reportedly at a $6 billion valuation. The round comes nine months after the San Francisco lab launched with a $180 million seed round from GV, Sequoia and Index that valued it at $1.5 billion.
