Embedded tax filing, planning and data software for financial firms
Venture-backedgetapril.comNot yet confirmed by the company
april makes tax software that other financial companies build into their own products. Its wealth management offering is aimed at advisory firms and the advisors who work with clients on taxes, and the company also sells to banks, fintech apps, and small-business and gig-work platforms.
The platform has three parts. Filing lets a firm offer self-serve returns or returns prepared by april's own credentialed tax staff, with advisors able to track filings and work alongside the client and the preparer. Planning runs tax-impact calculations for events such as equity sales, Roth conversions and retirement withdrawals, and lets users model changes to income or filing status and see effects on items like AMT. Data and insights pulls up to seven years of IRS transcript data through an API and breaks down asset-level detail across tax forms, with AI tools for querying that data.
The company says it is authorized by the IRS to e-file returns in every state and cites SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports. Firms can set their own branding and pricing, offering tax filing as a paid add-on or giving it free to selected clients. Backers shown on its site include QED Investors and NYCA.
