Cadence launches Munich AI data center with Nvidia chips

The site hosts OnCloud, Reality Digital Twin and the Millennium M2000; OnCloud is available to European customers now.

At a glance

  1. The facility supports Cadence OnCloud, the Reality Digital Twin platform and the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer, Data Center Dynamics reported.
  2. Cadence OnCloud on sovereign infrastructure is available today to European customers, with several additional compute capabilities planned as the site expands.
  3. For allocators underwriting European data center capacity, the site adds a named sovereign-workload occupier category rather than a third-party colocation tenant, and the certifications are the compliance basis Cadence is offering those customers.

Cadence launched a sovereign AI data center in Munich, powered by Nvidia Vera and Grace CPUs and Blackwell GPUs, the company said. The facility supports Cadence OnCloud, the Reality Digital Twin platform and the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer, Data Center Dynamics reported.

Cadence OnCloud on sovereign infrastructure is available today to European customers, with several additional compute capabilities planned as the site expands. The report does not give the facility's capacity, power draw or the capital committed to it. The site is certified to ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and SOC 2 Type II standards and complements Cadence's existing European cloud resources, including public cloud provider infrastructure in Frankfurt.

For allocators underwriting European data center capacity, the site adds a named sovereign-workload occupier category rather than a third-party colocation tenant, and the certifications are the compliance basis Cadence is offering those customers. What cannot be done yet is sizing: with no megawatt or investment figure, the Munich facility cannot be ranked against the AI leasing pipeline that competing campuses cite when they market capacity.

Paul Scannell, SVP of Cadence's global customer success team, said Europe's semiconductor and system design community needs secure infrastructure that enables innovation without compromising data sovereignty. Cadence also said it will use the Reality Digital Twin platform within the Munich facility to improve the design and operation of its own compute infrastructure, boost energy efficiency and reduce operational risk.
