Raymond James & Associates added four advisors from UBS Financial Services who managed more than $700 million in client assets, InvestmentNews reported this week.

The team operates as 42° North Advisors of Raymond James and includes advisors Thomas Massey, Michelle Herman, Joseph Licate and John Egan, plus senior registered client service associate Lyndsey Fern. They work from RJA's Beachwood, Ohio office. Amy Smart, the channel's Mid-American regional director, confirmed the move.

The 12-month recruiting scoreboard is lopsided, per Moves Wire: eight moves out of UBS Financial Services and none in, against seven arrivals and one departure at Raymond James & Associates. An advisor at UBS weighing an offer can read the destination by that record rather than by a recruiting presentation.

The most recent arrival Moves Wire records for RJA, on Oct. 30, was the Longwater Haffey Group, a three-person team from Truist Investment Services with $700 million in client assets of its own.

Massey, a senior vice president of wealth management, spent 18 years at UBS and began in financial services in 1987. He holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from Northwestern University and earned the Certified Portfolio Manager designation from Columbia University. Herman, a first vice president of wealth management, brings 24 years of experience and holds the Chartered Financial Consultant and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designations. Licate, also a senior vice president, has more than four decades in the industry; Egan, a vice president, has 46 years.

The team serves families, individuals, business owners, corporate executives, family offices and retirees. Culture and leadership stability decided the move, according to Massey. "Raymond James stands out for its reputation and longstanding stability," he said. "Its strong leadership team and client-first values give us confidence that we'll have the support and resources needed to serve our clients well into the future."

Form ADV filings show UBS Financial Services with $915.8 billion in regulatory assets, 12,524 employees and 1.14 million accounts in its Aug. 25 filing. Set against that employee base, the eight departures Moves Wire recorded over the past 12 months are a thin slice of the firm, even at $700 million a book.
