Anchorage Digital runs a regulated crypto platform for institutions, including RIAs, broker-dealers, wirehouses, family offices and banks. Its unit Anchorage Digital Bank N.A. gained a federal charter from the OCC in January 2021, and the company says it was the first U.S. crypto bank to receive a federal charter.

For wealth managers, the company offers qualified custody of client digital assets with integrated trading. Advisors can open joint, taxable and IRA accounts at no added cost, fund them with cash or in-kind crypto transfers, execute block trades and rebalance model portfolios across many accounts, and bill and report on crypto holdings next to other assets. A model marketplace supplies custom strategies, and annual tax documents come through a TaxBit integration. Outside wealth management, the platform offers staking, governance, USD banking, real-time settlement, stablecoin issuance and a self-custody wallet called Porto.

Anchorage Digital was founded in 2017 in San Francisco by Diogo Mónica and Nathan McCauley. It also operates Anchorage Digital Singapore, licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Anchorage Digital New York, which holds a BitLicense. Offices include New York, Porto, Singapore and Sioux Falls. The company says investors include Andreessen Horowitz, GIC, Goldman Sachs, KKR and Visa, at a valuation of $4.2 billion.
