Gemini runs a crypto exchange and a New York-chartered trust company that holds digital assets as a qualified custodian. A separate institutional business serves professional traders, hedge funds, asset managers, businesses, fintech companies, banks and private wealth clients.

Gemini Custody stores assets in cold storage that uses multisignature technology, segregates each customer's holdings at unique on-chain addresses, and gives auditors view-only access. Clients manage balances, withdrawals, statements and sub-accounts through a web portal or APIs, can require multiple approvers for activity, and can trade directly from custody through Instant Trade. The institutional side also offers spot and derivatives trading, staking, account structures that separate client portfolios by manager, and APIs for banks and fintech apps that want to add crypto trading to their own products. Custody pricing is quoted by volume, asset mix and holdings.

Gemini Trust Company is supervised by New York's financial regulator, NYDFS, and the company says custody carries $100 million of cold-storage insurance for certain losses. The parent, Gemini Space Station, Inc., trades on Nasdaq under GEMI and lists its offices in New York City.
